Tenuta dei Pianali

Tenuta dei Pianali
In the northern Maremma, with about 900 hectares, is one of the smallest but most prestigious regions of Italy: Bolgheri. Home to many great wines such as Ornellaia, Sassicaia and Masseto. Always deeply attached to Bolgheri, Marchese Lodovico Antinori did not hesitate for a second when Tenuta dei Pianali was offered for sale. As the founder of Ornallaia's top vineyard, he understands the incredible potential of the area, due to its proximity to the sea, with cooling breezes, warm and sunny days and the specialCalcareous clay soils mixed with volcanic rock and sand. Lodovico Antinori suggests that the climate and structure of the vineyards remind him of those found in Pomerol and St. Emilion. With the help of his brother Piero Antinori, owner of the house Antinori, and his friend and adviser Michel Rolland, the vineyard property was restructured and expanded with new plantings of Petit Verdot and Merlot. The first bottled vintage was then the 2005er. The wine was named after the Monte Coronato, which rises directly behind the vineyard.
