The Grumello - named after the 13th century Castello di Grumello above it. - is one of the four Crulagen of the Veltlin valley, where the grapes grow on the steep, transversely terraced vineyards of the foothills of the Alps. This single layer is located near Sondrio at 350 to 600 m above sea level and is characterized by the typical deep clay and sand soils. The wine is fermented with restrained fermentation with re-assembly (periodic pouring over of the marc cap) and then aged for about eighteen months in barrels made of Slavonian oak. It then matures in the bottle for at least nine months before it goes on sale. A Nebbiolo of a fine, Burgundian type, which, compared to the Inferno, has a much more robust type.
